Please be MINEcraft

Just in time for Valentine’s day.  If you have a special someone who geeks out over Minecraft as much as you do, i hope you throw a love potion at them, hop around for a bit, and then explode….with happiness of course.  You’re Welcome

I just can’t get enough of these guys (and gal).  Its just good nonsense comedy.

They are holding another art competition on their forums, so i decided to participate.  With the Caricature Convention in about 3 weeks, i wanted to give myself a chance to practice and play with colored paper.  I think it turned out well.  My stuff always has a tendency to look unfinished, but with the colored paper that doesn’t happen as much.

Again, The Yogscast is Great.  You’re Welcome

I don’t usually enter competitions, but this one really spoke to me.  As most of you know, i love the game Minecraft.  When i saw that Threadless hopped on the wagon to put out designs for MineCon, my little heart went a flutter.  I did two designs for the contest.

The first is a comic book take on the main character Steve.  He has his Cat companion with him and for anyone that knows the game, they are a great defense against one of the more dangerous mobs in the game; Creepers.  You can VOTE FOR IT HERE. Its the last day and i hope to get a few more votes and comments in there :) And you can use facebook to sign up; its pretty easy

The second one i did is a Minecraft take on the Peanuts Characters.  More specifically , the front features Lucy ‘griefing’ Charlie Brown yet again.  For those who don’t know, Griefing is a term used to describe malicious acts toward other players in game, such as going around killing people or destroying the structures they build.  You can VOTE FOR IT HERE! Vote, Comment, Share, whatever you would like to do :) A few seconds of your time means the world to me!

Once again: Voting for the Comic Book Minecraft Design is HERE; and the Peanuts Design is HERE

I’ll probably post an update on the Peanuts design closer to the closing of the Voting to let you know how its doing.  The comic book design will be finishing up today and i’m hoping for a strong finish!  THANKS! and of course; You’re Welcome

Last week i found out (on Facebook of course) that the Yogscast has been running a teeshirt design contest for the past umpteen days/weeks or so (i’m not really sure).  The prize being offered is actually something my husband needs but can’t afford right now.  SO, i said to myself ‘why don’t i make something and try to win it for him!’ It’s always a long shot with stuff like this, and frankly i never do that well in contests(like the majority of us) and tee design isn’t in my little circle of ‘stuff i do all the time’.  But i had a week sort of open and decided to try.  If anything else, its makes some pretty cool fan art.

Here are the two i came up with it this week.

Spiders? WHY!?!

Bunch of Squares

when i was done, i realized they looked like toast

testing out some colors

I’m not letting myself have expectations on my chances, but i had fun playing on my computer and made something i’m happy with.  You’re Welcome

As some of you know, i’m a fairly big Minecraft fan.  In my infancy as such, i trolled the youtubes looking for videos of amazing builds, maps, mods, redstone creations, and anything else that sent my heart a twitter.  I came across the Yogscast and their Minecraft antics on the Survival map.  Needless to say, i was hooked.  Not to sound too creepy, but i probably will because that’s how these things usually go, but i started to watch all of their videos while i worked.  First the Minecraft videos, and then onto videos of games i’ve never played or even heard of.  Simon and Lewis, of course, are the ‘go to’ couple to listen to.  And though its a bit silly, i always anticipate an explosion or a random fire when Simon wanders off screen somewhere, and of course chuckle every time.   Just last week though, i was hooked to the “Condemned, Criminal Origins (crinimal oranges)” series that Simon and Hannah played together.  For a few days after, i found myself entering dark hallways saying “Hello? Is Any-body here?” and making sure there was always a conduit nearby just in case, but i always hoped for the fire axe.

If you haven’t watched them on Youtube, you should.  It’s ALWAYS good for a laugh if you love or appreciate video games in any way.

Of course, because of my small obsession as of late, they inspired me to do yet another Minecraft sketch, but this time, featuring Simon, Lewis, and special guest Hannah adventuring in Minecraftia.  Thank you Yogscast for the entertainment!  No one does it quite like you guys.

My brain is pretty fried thanks to Netflix and the original Star Trek, which is amazing BTDubs. AND, i’m pretty distracted by the fact that my husband updated our Minecraft server and it glitched out all of my animals that i worked so hard to find, tame, and corral.  AND i had to bury an adorable baby bunny yesterday because my parents’ dog thought it was a tasty snack.  AND i have 9 commissions due by Monday.  AND i have no ambition to work. *sigh*

Today i thought would be a good day to show you my sketch process and general work station.  I wouldn’t bother copying it though because i lose and misplace just about everything in my workspace. i’ll be using a pencil one minute, and the next i’m all like “Jordan, where’s my pencil?” and he’s all “I don’t know, weren’t you just usin’ it?” and i’m all “Yeah.”  And that’s how that goes. You’re Welcome

I don’t do this often but this post will be completely unrelated to art.  I know, i know. Pick your jaws up off the floor, they’re getting dirty and the 10 second rule doesn’t apply to wet stuff.

So back in December, i posted pictures of our Christmas tree.  If you remember, without going back to look at it but you should if you forgot, i decorated our little Norfolk Pine with cute little Minecraft ornaments and placed our gifts around it with love and care.  What i didn’t know at the time was that the Norfolk Pine is apparently a very delicate plant that does not thrive well at all in our Pennsylvania climate.  I watched as the poor plant dried up before my eyes.  I watered it and gave encouraging words to it, but the poor thing looked worse everyday.  More dry and withered than the old lady i posted yesterday.

So today, i finally looked up what to do because i knew that it was more of a warm weather plant and that there must be something i could do to save it.  Alas, not much can be done once it starts drying up.

On the UP side (and there is an upside), i cut off all of the dead branches and will follow the few tips i found to keep the rest of it from going to the light.  The poor thing looks so thin now, but much healthier. You’re Welcome
